BYD launches second-generation Seagull from RMB 65,900 with flash charging on higher trims

BYD launched its second-generation Seagull electric hatchback in China on October 20, with five variants priced from RMB 65,900 to RMB 99,900. The redesigned model expands from four seats to five and switches from front-wheel drive to rear-wheel drive, while adding more cabin space and a front storage compartment. The new Seagull measures 4,205mm long with a 2,650mm wheelbase, increases motor output to 95kW and replaces the previous rear torsion-beam suspension with an independent multi-link setup. It offers CLTC-rated ranges of 320km and 420km. Higher trims support BYD’s flash-charging technology, which the company says can charge the battery from 10% to 70% in five minutes at compatible stations.
