Processed in your browser, never uploaded. Your photos live in the QR code.

This is a local file. Processing works here, but its QR points to this device’s file address. Open Unhost on a web host to make codes other phones can open.

A centered square. Grayscale. Made to fit.

Scan to open. For dense codes, use good light and print at 15 cm or larger. Keep the white border.

Your photo is cropped, made grayscale and compressed on this device. Unhost itself makes no network requests and stores no photos or browser data. The viewing page still needs to be reachable when someone scans a web URL.

The image travels in the URL fragment, after #. Browsers do not send this fragment in the HTTP request. Unhost immediately replaces the current history entry with the clean page address. Reloading then loses the photo; scan the code again to reopen it.

There are no copy or share-link controls. Anyone with the QR can still recover its link and photo. Clearing this page’s address cannot erase a scanner’s records or earlier copies of the link.

Automatic fit compares 48 WebP candidates: 96–256 pixels and quality 5–30. A visual similarity score balances detail against QR size. Version 35 is the normal ceiling; versions 36–40 are a fallback only when none of those candidates fit. Error correction is increased when it fits without enlarging the code.

U1 uses a URL-safe Base41 alphabet in QR alphanumeric mode, removes the fixed WebP wrapper, and includes a corruption checksum. The page address is encoded separately and counted exactly. No external libraries are downloaded.

Enable JavaScript to process photos and read Unhost codes.
