Installs to ~/.local/bin and sets up mpv and an emoji font if they're missing. If kickoff isn't found afterwards, add that folder to your PATH.

Or download kickoff_windows_amd64.zip from Releases, extract it and double-click Instalar-Kickoff.bat (automatically installs portable mpv if missing and creates a branded desktop shortcut).

Note

mpv is optional and only needed for playback. Scores, stats and lineups work without it. On Windows: winget install mpv.net, scoop install mpv or choco install mpv.

🌐 Language & Localization

Kickoff supports both English and Spanish out of the box. Language is automatically detected from your system locale (LANG / LC_*), and can be explicitly configured via kickoff setup or overridden via the KICKOFF_LANG environment variable:

📺 Channels & playback sources

kickoff resolves which channel airs each match and hands the stream URL to your local mpv. Resolution uses verified evidence only: when no source can be confirmed, the match shows no channels instead of a guess.

Playback is Bring Your Own Streams (BYOS). Map each canonical channel key to your own IPTV/HLS URL in ~/.config/kickoff/channels.json:

Recognized keys: espn1–espn7, dsports, dsports2, dsports4, dsports_plus, win, win_plus, win_sports_mas, gol_caracol, caracol, caracol_hd2, rcn, rcn_hd2, claro_sports, tyc, realmadrid, teledeporte. The retired Fox Sports keys (fox1, fox2, fox3) and espn_extra are no longer recognized.

Streaming platforms — Disney+ Premium, DGO, Amazon Prime Video, Paramount+, DAZN, Apple TV, VIX, Fanatiz and OneFootball — are DRM-protected and are metadata only. kickoff has no DRM/CDM support and never launches them in mpv.

kickoff is independent and not affiliated with ESPN, any league, club or broadcaster. Match data comes from public endpoints. kickoff does not host or redistribute video: playback only hands a URL to your local mpv. You are responsible for the sources you use and for following the laws that apply where you live.
