Huawei’s automotive technology company Yinwang has signed a strategic agreement with CATL and its battery-swapping subsidiary Contemporary Amperex Energy Service Technology, or CAES. The companies will work on battery compatibility, swapping networks and the integration of Huawei’s Qiankun driving technology with CATL’s Choco-Swap system. The partnership will connect vehicle, station and cloud services, allowing vehicles to determine when they need a battery swap, find a station, enter and align themselves, complete a 99-second automated swap, and drive away. Yinwang will also work with its automotive partners to develop vehicles compatible with CATL’s swapping network. The agreement was signed in Ningde, Fujian province, on October 19.
