Overview
Join us in person for four candid takes on today’s job hunt and how to navigate it.
In this meeting we will have a Q&A Panel for Developers navigating the Current Job Seeker Landscape. You'll be able to hear from an Agency Recruiter, an Internal Recruiter, a Career Coach / Resume Writer, and a Hiring Manager. If you have questions that you want the panel to prep for ahead of time, please post them to the comments on this event.
Pizza will be provided, and donations are welcome. Stick around to chat with fellow developers about Apple platforms and life as a developer.
Here's some background on this event's guests:
Will Wegert (AKA Colorado's #1 Most Baldest Recruiter) helps Colorado Tech leaders find and hire "uncommonly good" Senior, Lead, Staff, & Principal Level Software Developers and Software Engineering Leaders. Will has been working in the Colorado Developer market for almost 10 years., and has spoken with thousands of candidates and hiring managers, so he brings a unique perspective on todays market.
Drew Douglass (AKA the hiring manager who's been on both sides of the table this year) has spent nearly 20 years building software and the last decade leading the engineers who build it. Most recently a Senior Engineering Manager at JumpCloud, he's led distributed teams across the US, India, Turkey, Latin America and the Middle East and has interviewed hundreds of engineering candidates. He also builds and ships iOS apps himself, with 27 live on the App Store (and roughly 27 users). He brings the hiring manager and human perspective: what actually happens to your application, and what makes managers say yes.
Justin Conaway is an internal recruiter at Ibotta. Over my 11 year career, I’ve had the privilege of scaling engineering and technical orgs from the inside—whether that's growing AWS’s ProServe Customer Engineering group from 32 to 300+ engineers, sourcing for Google’s cloud infrastructure domains, or partnering with fast-moving startups through consulting engagements. On the panel, I’m excited to pull back the curtain on how internal recruiting teams operate, what actually catches our attention, and how developers can stand out in today's market. Over the past few years I have been interested in the psychology of job interviews, and interviews as a binary classification model.
