Tencent has opened Yuanbao Search to external developers and businesses through Tencent Cloud, turning the search infrastructure used by its own AI products into a commercial service. Announced on October 20, the offering combines publicly available web information with Tencent’s content ecosystem and is designed to provide information retrieval for large language models and AI agents. Tencent said Yuanbao Search has built an index containing hundreds of billions of entries and processes hundreds of millions of calls daily, supporting more than 50 internal businesses, including WorkBuddy, ima and Tencent Video. It connects to 157 information sources across 13 sectors, including finance, healthcare, law and travel, and supports minute-level updates for information such as news, weather and market prices.
