Alibaba’s DAMO Academy unveiled the XuanTie E908A automotive processor IP at the RISC-V China Summit in Shenzhen on October 19. Designed for safety-related computing, domain controllers and vehicle gateways, the processor IP supports the ASIL-B and ASIL-D automotive functional safety requirements, according to DAMO Academy. The company also introduced a processor roadmap for autonomous driving and embodied AI. Its planned C950A automotive processor targets five times the performance of existing automotive RISC-V products and is expected to launch by the end of 2027. DAMO Academy said cumulative shipments of chips using XuanTie processor IP have exceeded 6 billion units as it expands from established applications into higher-performance computing markets.
