OpenAI doubles ChatGPT Pro usage limits after backlash over planned 50% cut

OpenAI says it won't reduce usage limits for the $100, $200, and $500 ChatGPT Pro plans, as well as Business Premium, and it also promised to keep Dots usage independent.

In a post on X, Tibo, who is the face of ChatGPT and Codex on X, confirmed that the changes take effect immediately and primarily affect ChatGPT Work and Codex, which share usage allowances under eligible subscriptions.

However, OpenAI has now reversed that decision following customer feedback.

"We are doubling all usage limits for all Pro 100/200/500 tiers and Business Premium, effective today," Tibo announced on X.

"We heard your kind feedback and won’t be reducing usage limits for Pro 200, so your Work and Codex usage will stay the same."

Alongside the subscription changes, OpenAI is continuing to offer extended usage limits for Dots, its always-on AI assistants.

"We're also going to continue offering extended limits for Dots for now, and usage of your dot will still continue to be separate from your default usage," the company explained.

Overall prevention scores can hide what happens after initial access. Once attackers are using valid credentials, prevention drops sharply.
